Monitoring geolab compute usage

I just was locked out of GeoLab without warning. Gemini suggests I could have done the following to monitor my usage, but this is the first time I heard of that functionality:

1. Check the Hub Control Panel / Services

2i2c environments include a built-in user-facing Compute Usage Quota Dashboard.

  • Look at the top navigation bar or menu inside your GeoLab JupyterHub interface.

  • Look for a dedicated “Services” dropdown or a “Quota” tab.

  • If enabled on your specific cluster profile, this will launch a small dashboard page showing a progress bar or a breakdown of your consumed CPU-hours or RAM-hours over the current rolling period.

That would be fine if I had known to check, but I’m now locked out until this can be cleared. I’m told that will happen shortly, but the lesson to others in the community is to read Gemini’s suggestion and see if that works. Maybe someone at Earthscope could post a link to a page describing the feature Gemini notes.

Hi @pavlis - we’re in the middle of rolling out new cost-control quota features that will ensure GeoLab remains affordable to EarthScope and can be offered at no cost to users. Preliminary documentation of our quota system is here: Resource Quotas - GeoLab User Docs . The docs deliberately link to 2i2c’s pages because this system is still new and growing, and it’s easier to keep documentation up to date when it’s only maintained in one place. We hope to be able to build a better user notification system in the future to warn you as you’re approaching your limit
Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you. We’re actively working to get your quota increased.
